The Good News Community Kitchen is proud to announce that Executive Director Mercedes N. Kirkland-Doyle is a recipient of the 2017 40 Under 40 awards presented by Leadership Center for Excellence. Mercedes, along with the other honorees, will be recognized for the positive leadership impact they make personally and/or professionally at a luncheon on Nov. 30 at the Army Navy Country Club in Arlington.

The 40 Under 40 event honors forty trailblazers who have demonstrated exceptional leadership in the personal or professional spheres and who are devoted to making positive change within our community. This event was an opportunity to support and recognize these leaders, and the Leadership Center for Excellence hopes that they will further create valuable social capital for this region.

Mercedes was chosen because of her commitment to rebuilding and strengthening communities and assisting others to transition into better living conditions. She provides a basic need for men, women and young children in need throughout Northern Virginia and the Washington Metropolitan Area.

“Mercedes is definitely one of the best of the best in the area. I’ve worked with her on multiple feed the homeless events within DC and she can make things happen with whatever she is given. One thing that leaders possess is a relentless ambition. She has that. She is truly one of the people I consider that CAN DO ANYTHING. Congrats!” said Uri Robinson, Strategic Planning Chair, Aspire 2 Inspire Foundation, Inc.
