Lanny Warkentien, theatre teacher and director at Charles J. Colgan Sr. High School, has taken the saying “The show must go on” to a new level. He devised a way for his students to virtually perform their end of year performance of The Tempest. (The show was originally slated for public debut in early May.) Using a video conferencing tool, Lanny recorded students performing scenes from the play and then edited them together into a full show.
The result was a visual tribute to the talent and resiliency of the student performers. The virtual play may not have been the ideal way for Colgan High School theatre students to end their year of performances. However, stage manager Alicia, a junior, said the virtual performance “was one of my favorite moments, ironically.”
