Last Thursday, December 3rd, the members of the Prince William Chamber of Commerce gathered for their annual Holiday Open House at Old Hickory Golf Club. The annual event, presented by the Chamber’s Board of Directors and sponsored by MTCI-Management & Training Consultants, Inc. was a festive occasion, complete with passed hors d’oeuvres, Carol-oke, Rudolph’s Putting Place and shopping with Santa’s Workshop exhibitors. Most festive of all, attendees were asked to bring a toy for the TML-A Xerox Company Toy Drive to benefit SERVE, a division of Northern Virginia Family Service. Approximately 75 toys were collected to help the Manassas-area homeless shelter and food pantry reach their goal of providing gifts for 577 children in Prince William County and the Cities of Manassas and Manassas Park.

“From our earliest days, TML has made partnership with the community a high priority,” says Ben Simms, President of TML-A Xerox Company. “When the Chamber offered the opportunity for TML to conduct the toy drive for this year’s Holiday Open House, it was a natural fit. Internally we promote giving back to the community that supports our business and there is no time of year when that is more important than during the holiday season. SERVE is a beacon of hope for hundreds of families in the areas where we do business. It is our great pleasure to lead the members of the Prince William Chamber of Commerce in donating to the little ones who will one day work in our local businesses.”

Quality of life initiatives are one of the Prince William Chamber’s five areas of vision (along with business growth, education/workforce development, advocacy and economic development). The Chamber’s quality of life initiatives are supported by Quality of Life Vision Partner Dominion Virginia Power.

The Gifting for Families program of Northern Virginia Family Service ensures that children in Northern Virginia receive a gift or gift card for the holiday season. PWL This year 952 families are registered for the program in all jurisdictions; 229 of those families reside in Prince William County or the Cities of Manassas and Manassas Park. In total, 1,970 children will be served across the total area covered by Northern Virginia Family Service.

Stephanie Berkowitz, President & CEO of Northern Virginia Family Service commented, “We are incredibly grateful for the support of the Prince William Chamber. The holiday season can be a stressful time for everyone, especially for our clients who are working to rebuild their lives. Through our Gifting for Families program, we hope to provide children with a much-needed lift in spirits and these gifts will allow us to spread even more holiday cheer this year.”
