There are a lot of great Halloween movies out there that are perfect for kids. We asked the staff at Prince William Living what are the best family Halloween movies, and here are just a few of our favorites:

It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown (G):

This classic animated special follows the Peanuts gang as they prepare for Halloween. Linus is convinced that the Great Pumpkin will rise out of the pumpkin patch and bestow gifts upon those who believe in him.

Casper (PG):

A young girl named Kat moves into a new house with her father. She quickly discovers that the house is haunted by friendly ghosts, one of whom is a boy named Casper. The two become friends and work together to convince Kat’s father that ghosts are nothing to be afraid of.

Hocus Pocus (PG):
After being accidentally resurrected by three kids, three wicked witches set out to ruin Halloween for everyone in town. It’s up to the kids to stop them before it’s too late.

The Nightmare Before Christmas (PG):

Jack Skellington, the Pumpkin King of Halloweentown, becomes bored with his job and decides to take over Christmas. But when his plan goes awry, Jack must put things right before both holidays are ruined.

Beetlejuice (PG):

A young couple moves into a new house only to find that it is haunted by the ghost of a former occupant. When they can’t get rid of the ghost on their own, they call in Beetlejuice, a “ghost with the most” who specializes in dealing with pesky ghosts.

E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (PG):

One of the most iconic movies of all time, this Steven Spielberg classic follows a young boy who befriends an alien stranded on Earth. A must-watch for any family movie night.

The Addams Family (PG-13):

This spooky and funny film follows the Addams family, a group of eccentric outsiders who live in their own unique way. A great choice for Halloween – or any other time of year!

The Monster Squad (PG-13):

A group of kids team up to stop Dracula and his monster buddies from taking over their town on Halloween. A fun and spooky adventure the whole family will enjoy.

Halloweentown (G):

It’s the story of a girl who discovers she comes from a line of witches and must use her powers to save her town from evil forces. Halloweentown is light-hearted and fun, with just enough suspense to keep kids engaged.

We hope you have as much fun watching these classic kids’ Halloween movies as we did recommending them! What are your favorite family Halloween movies?
