In accordance with the Code of Virginia, the Town of Dumfries has begun the review and update process of its Comprehensive Plan. The Dumfries Comprehensive Plan includes the vision and goals of the town for the next twenty years and a list of actions and policies to achieve those goals. Topics covered by the Comprehensive Plan include, but are not limited to, land use, economic growth, transportation, and community services.
“Today marks a pivotal moment in our journey. Our comprehensive plan update isn’t just a strategy on paper—it’s a dynamic blueprint for innovation, resilience, and sustainable growth. As we navigate the ever-evolving landscape, this plan is our compass, guiding us towards success and ensuring that every step forward is a step towards a brighter future for our town and the communities we serve,” said Town Manager Tangela Innis.
The Town of Dumfries will begin the public engagement process in January, starting with stakeholder focus group discussions, followed by a series of public pop-up sessions around town, several public meetings, and an online survey. Public feedback will directly shape the policies included in the plan.
