Looking for some outdoor, athletic fun? Try a local outdoor trifecta! This year you can participate in a paddling event in the spring, a cycling event in the summer, and a run/walk in the fall, all locally sponsored and all supporting local organizations.
On Saturday, June 4, come to the Town of Occoquan for the OCQ River Paddle Challenge 2022. With categories for stand-up paddleboard, kayak, and other craft, this is an event suitable for beginners and experienced paddlers alike. Participate and enjoy the town’s RiverFest and Craft Show activities taking place all that weekend. For more information, visit paddleguru.com/races/OCQRiverPaddleChallenge2022.
On Saturday, July 23, enjoy the 2022 Tour of Prince William cycling event. Starting at the Brentsville Courthouse Historic Centre, this recreational cycling event offers a 20-mile and a 62-mile (metric century) course that visits several of Prince William County’s historic sites. Proceeds benefit the 501(c)(3) Prince William Trails and Streams Coalition and the 501(c)(3) Prince William Historic Preservation Foundation. For more information, visit tourofprincewilliam.org/.
Finally, finish off your personal trifecta on Saturday, Oct. 8, by participating in the annual IWalk for ACTS, which is live again this year at Stonebridge. This 5K run/walk is fun for the whole family and includes a lively festival. Proceeds benefit the 501(c)(3) organization Action in the Community through Service, which has been providing numerous services to those in need in our community for more than 50 years.
