Manassas resident Dan Verner has been named Best Writer in Prince William County for the third year running in a readers’ poll conducted by Prince William Today.

A retired high school English teacher, Verner produces articles and poems, maintains several blogs, edits a number of manuscripts, writes for the color monthly Prince William Living magazine and has four books published as part of the Beyond the Blue Horizon series: On Wings of the Morning, On the Wings of Eagles, On the Wings of Angels and On the Wings of Grace. Diamond Duty, a Civil War baseball novel, will be released next February while Book Five, On the Wings of Faith and Book Six, On the Wings of Hope, will follow in 2018 and 2019. Mata’s Story, as yet unscheduled, relates the events in the lives of characters in the Beyond the Blue Horizon from the point of view of Mata, the sister of the main character in the series. Verner also plans to begin work in September on Book Seven, On the Wings of Noontide.

Verner lives with his wife Becky, who works as the Artistic Director of the Manassas Chorale, Director of the Greater Manassas Children’s Choir and Director of Music for Manassas Baptist Church. Their daughter Amy teaches fourth grade for Prince William County Public Schools, while daughter Alyssa serves as Vice President of Human Relations and Director of Logistics for TML in Manassas.
