* One of 30 Grants in 30 Days Being Distributed *
Richmond, Virginia (June 10, 2013) – Keep Virginia Beautiful (KVB) is awarding “30 Grants In 30 Days” during June 2013. Keep Prince William Beautiful in Woodbridge, VA has been awarded a $500 grant in the Litter Prevention Category. The KVB grant program focuses greater resources and attention on organizations and individual localities throughout the Commonwealth and how they are addressing the issues of litter prevention, recycling, waste reduction, beautification and education.
KVB provided the opportunity for government, non-profit and/or service organizations in Virginia to apply for one of (30) grants of $500 in three different categories: Beautification, Litter Prevention, and Recycling. These grants are made possible by Lowe’s Charitable and Educational Foundation.
Keep Prince William Beautiful (KPWB) plans to expand their Operation Clean Sweep Campaign. This campaign includes 20 large scale community clean-ups annually, in conjunction with litter prevention education. KPWB will use the grant funds to purchase some reusable weather proof safety signs and approximately 50 litter grabbers. On the first clean-up of this campaign, 1.96 tons of litter/debris was collected and disposed of properly, therefore KPWB can look forward to many more tons of litter to clean-up from within Prince William County. KPWB is an affiliate of KVB and we could not be happier to help support a successful litter prevention program in the Commonwealth.
The mission at Keep Virginia Beautiful is to engage and unite Virginians to improve our natural and scenic environment through 5 impact areas: Litter Prevention, Waste Reduction, Recycling, Beautification, and Environmental Education.
