The Area Agency on Aging staff developed a Virtual Senior Center to help older adults in the Prince William area remain active, engaged and entertained throughout the day. The Virtual Senior Center provides opportunities for socialization, education and connection.

The Area Agency on Aging recognizes this is a difficult time for older adults in the community. So they created ways to reduce social isolation and improve the health and wellness of the population they serve. The agency leads daily live events that allow participants to join via webcam or dial in by phone. Live events include a weekly social lunch hour, bingo, yoga and nutrition classes.
The yoga classes are designed for all levels and abilities. In the nutrition classes, the Agency covers an array of topics relevant to older adults including heart health, managing diabetes, nutrition for bone health and eating healthy on a budget. Each nutrition class includes a lesson and time for Q & A and group discussion.
The Agency also offers evidence-based programs on a virtual platform. These include Chronic Disease Self-Management and Chronic Pain Self-Management.
In addition to live events, the Agency provides tutorials in arts and crafts, puzzles and games, and handouts with healthy lifestyle tips. The Agency fully intends to grow and develop what they offer to better match the needs and wants of the public.
The entire Agency on Aging staff is committed to making this time of uncertainty as fun and enjoyable as possible. Please join them at the Virtual Senior Center any day of the week. For information about other Agency on Aging services, visit pwcgov.org/aging, or call 703-792-6374.
