Virginia National Ballet is thrilled to have won InsideNova’s Best of Prince William 2022 in three categories just as the company is about to celebrate its 10 Year Anniversary Season!
The Best of Prince William was announced on July 21. Virginia National Ballet won Best Performing Arts Company, Best Dance Studio, and Best Teacher/Choreographer: Rafik Hegab.
In September, Virginia National Ballet will be starting its 10 Year Anniversary Season 2022-23, with an exciting schedule of performances in several different venues, performing some past favorites and a new World Premiere.
Besides performing the usual full season at The Hylton Performing Arts Center, Virginia National Ballet will also be taking the stage at the Capital One Hall in Tysons, as well as debuting at The Atlas Performing Arts Center in Washington, D.C.
Virginia National Ballet will be presenting The Nutcracker at both the Hylton and Capital One Hall, followed by VNB’s incredibly popular production of Aladdin, also at the Hylton and at Capital One Hall. In the spring, VNB will present the 10 Year Anniversary Gala featuring a selection of VNB’s “greatest hits” from the past 10 years (Carmen, Cinderella, Snow White, Aladdin, Aida, Bohemian Rhapsody, and many more) as well as a brand-new World Premier of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, choreographed by Rafik Hegab. And to finish out the season, VNB will be debuting at Washington, D.C.’s Atlas Performing Arts Center with “Unlimited”, a mixed repertory program including Bolero, Bohemian Rhapsody, and The Four Seasons. Audiences will love the mesmerizing choreography and powerful, athletic dancing, set to these iconic pieces of music.
Virginia National Ballet School students have the opportunity to perform in some of VNB’s productions including the annual Nutcrackers, and they also have their own recital each Spring at the Hylton Performing Arts Center. Classes are offered in ballet, contemporary, jazz, hip hop, acro, and tap, as well as private voice and piano lessons.
Virginia National Ballet’s award-winning Artistic Director, Rafik Hegab, is originally from Egypt and was a Principal Dancer with the Cairo Opera Ballet, with which he toured the globe performing leading roles. VNB’s company dancers in 2022-23 come from the USA, Canada, China, Ukraine, Japan, Nicaragua, and more!
Elysabeth Muscat Hegab, Managing Director, founded Virginia National Ballet in February 2013. VNB is a member of the Virginia Commission for the Arts Tour Directory, an Arts Affiliate of the Hylton Performing Arts Center, and a member of the Prince William Arts Council, where Ms. Muscat is a Board member serving her 8th term. She has been involved in Arts Administration for twenty-two years and is also a former professional Opera Singer who performed leading roles in major European opera houses, as well as a 15- year faculty member of the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University, and Director of Music International Grand Prix, an international music competition, since 2020.
