On Wednesday, Jan. 12, the Prince William County Fire & Rescue System held its Volunteer Firefighter Recruit Graduation Ceremony at the Public Safety Training Center in Nokesville. Battalion Chief James
Mirabile presided over the ceremony. System Chief Tim Keen and Volunteer Chief Jerry Deem provided an inspirational message to the recruits and attendees.
Recruit Class 22041 consisted of 10 recruits who successfully completed six months of rigorous academic and physical training at the System’s Public Safety Training Center. Each student performed 420 hours of training which consisted of 300 hours of Firefighter I & II, 40 hours of Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus Training, 40 hours of Hazardous Materials Training (up to the Operations level), five days of Firefighter Survival Training, 16 hours of Introduction to Technical Rescue and 16 hours of Vehicle Extrication Training. Upon graduation, they will be designated as a Firefighter.
