Supervisor Frank Principi, the Office of Voter Registration, and the Electoral Board have been working to realign voting precinct boundaries in the Woodbridge District. These changes are intended to make the crowded precincts smaller, eliminate confusion from “split” precincts, and improve the voter experience before the November 2013 Gubernatorial Election.
When redistricting was completed in 2011 by the General Assembly in Richmond, many “split” between the State House, State Senate and Congressional Districts, which causes voter confusion and increases the cost of administering elections.
“These are necessary changes if we intend to prevent the 5 hour lines that we experienced in Woodbridge last November,” said Supervisor Frank Principi. “Even with lower voter turnout in some elections, we have precincts in Woodbridge that are entirely too large, and have inadequate parking.”
A Public Hearing to discuss the proposed voting precinct changes will be held on August 6, 2013 at However, before the official Public Hearing, the Electoral Board will host a community meeting to get community input on Tuesday, July 30 from 5 pm- 7pm in the A.J. Ferlazzo Building (15941 Donald Curtis Drive, Woodbridge, Virginia, 22191). Maps illustrating the new precincts, boundary changes in others, and the new voting locations will be provided.
