The Role of Artificial Intelligence and Games in Teaching and Learning in the Age of COVID-19
This special lecture and discussion will be a live webinar via Google on Wednesday, Oct. 14 from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m.
The Covid-19 pandemic has ravaged the globe, destroying economies and lives in 180 nations. It has also completely upended the 50-million strong K-12 and higher education learner sectors in the U.S.
The rapid transition to online-only learning resulted in a situation where both learner and instructor have limited support resources. Today, the online-only learner rarely has true support vehicles outside of these options:
- student-teacher question-and-answer sessions conducted via the rare one-on-one video call, or
- through an asynchronous chat channel,
- or at worst, via email exchanges with someone at an advising center, if they even exist.
This webinar will offer examples of how computer intelligence and games can both provide personalized online support services to increase and improve teaching and learning in the new world of remote education. The webinar will explore:
- How games increase learner motivation and engagement
- How artificial intelligence (AI) can provide learner support services
- Can AI can personalize the teaching experience
- How AI and personalized games combined offer the ultimate learner flow experience
Enjoy thoughtful discussion by Dr. Scott Martin and James Casey of the Virginia Serious Game Institute at Mason’s College of Visual and Performing Arts. Bring your questions about this timely topic for the Q&A.
This special event is free and is part of the Arlington Forward Series of events where we will examine the ways innovation and technology impact our lives. Learn more and register for this event.
