Westminster at Lake Ridge is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year and continues to offer wonderful opportunities for its immediate and surrounding community.
Located near Occoquan, Westminster at Lake Ridge opened in 1993 as a Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC). As part of the Ingleside family of not-for-profit CCRCs, they have shared a common mission for more than 100 years: providing the highest quality service to aging adults of all faiths, throughout their retirement living. Westminster is a close-knit and warmly personal community set in a well-appointed campus against its backdrop of wooded village and flowing river.
Brian R. Tenney, Executive Director, Westminster at Lake Ridge, said “Westminster at Lake Ridge includes wonderful residents and dedicated staff that contribute to our family culture, and we are thrilled to celebrate 25 years in the Lake Ridge community.”
Residents Reach Out
Westminster at Lake Ridge residents reach out into the local community by visiting elementary school classrooms for reading and conversation. They volunteer their time by helping in the classroom where they can help teachers, listen to children read and help them with development skills like learning new games, new words, or just simply enjoying each other’s company.
Some of the residents are former teachers who love being back in the classroom. One resident who is a retired accountant helps some of the elementary school students with math.
New Added Service – Ingleside at Home
Ingleside at Home began as a pilot program in 2013 at its community in Lake Ridge. The program has expanded into Ingleside’s first service that offers personal and customized home care. Ingleside at Home is home- and community-based service which provides an array of services to seniors, including personal care; companionship and socialization; homemaking; medical escort and special care needs.
“Ingleside at Home offers a wide-range of home care options not only to assist current residents and seniors in their homes, but also extends our skilled, compassionate care to the greater community,” said Lisa Desmond, MBA, MSN, RN, Ingleside at Home Executive Director.
The service is currently available at Westminster at Lake Ridge and in the surrounding Virginia area. In the coming months, this service will be offered to the other communities: Ingleside at Rock Creek and Ingleside at King Farm, as well as to the greater community in Washington, D.C. and Maryland.
