UVA Health’s Mobile Mammography Coach Brings Early Detection Closer to Home

By Rebecca Barnes, Publisher, Prince William Living

When I was diagnosed with breast cancer, I learned the most important lesson of my life: early detection saves lives. It’s why today I’m proud to share that UVA Health’s upgraded Mobile Mammography Coach is back on the road in Prince William County, bringing lifesaving screenings directly to our neighborhoods.

Equipped with advanced 3D mammography technology, the coach makes it easier than ever for women, especially those with dense breast tissue, to obtain accurate and reliable results. Most screenings take just 15 minutes. For women without insurance, local clinic partners help cover the cost.

This program has always been about breaking barriers. By eliminating the need for long drives or hours away from work, the mobile coach ensures every woman in our community has access to quality care. And now, thanks to the support of the Virginia General Assembly and the UVA Community Health Foundation, the coach is refreshed, re-equipped, and ready to serve.

Health is leadership. When women make time for their own screenings, they set an example for families, workplaces, and communities. That’s why we’re linking this effort with our Influential Women Awards. As you take the step to book your screening, consider the women around you who inspire others through their leadership and compassion —and nominate them. Click here to nominate an Influential Woman
