Yesterday, VAWFSC introduced you to 100 Steps to Hope. Today, let’s talk about why VAWFSC’s model is so different—and so effective.
Here’s what most people don’t understand about homelessness:
Emergency shelters provide beds for a night or a week. They’re vital, but they can’t solve the deeper issues. A woman can’t heal from trauma in 30 days. She can’t complete job training while moving from shelter to shelter. She can’t save for a security deposit when she’s in survival mode.
That’s where VAWFSC changes everything.
They provide long-term housing—up to 24 months in Phase 1—with comprehensive wraparound services:
Safe, stable housing where families can stay for up to two years
Case management that creates individualized plans for independence
Prenatal and postnatal care for pregnant mothers
Mental health counseling to address the trauma of homelessness
Parenting education to equip parents with parenting skills
Job readiness training and employment support
Financial literacy classes and savings programs
Life skills development (budgeting, cooking, time management)
Childcare support so mothers can work or attend school
Community connection that eliminates isolation
…AND SO MUCH MORE.
This is why women succeed at VAWFSC: They’re given TIME and TOOLS.
When you purchase a Legacy Brick, you’re investing in a proven model that transforms lives.
What will your brick say?
Maybe it’s your family name, showing your children what it means to care for others. Maybe it’s honoring someone who believed in second chances. Maybe it’s simply: “Hope Lives Here.”

Day 2 of 100 Steps to Hope
Current count: 5 bricks | Goal: 100 bricks | Days remaining: 18
Every brick moves VAWFSC closer to completing a path where women literally walk toward transformed futures.
Over the next 18 days, we’re paving a path of 100 bricks together. Each Legacy Brick represents someone who believes that every mother and child deserves safe, stable housing and the support to build independent lives of dignity.
Take the first step on the Walkway of Hope.
