On Saturday, July 18th, from noon to 4:00 PM at the Lakeside courtyard in the Tackett’s Mill Center ( 2235 Tackett’s Mill Drive, Lake Ridge), the Clearbrook Center of the Arts again presents “Poetry and Jazz”, a free festival featuring local poets and authors reciting to the music of Common Ground.

Last year this event crowned the Prince William County Poets Laureate, Dr. Robert Scott and Zan Hailey. This year, participants will enjoy the “Poetry Circle,” (nominated poets from last year’s contest), WPGC radio personality Guy Lambert along with surprise celebrities, refreshments, local writers, food trucks and painting stations.

Last summer, about 200 people witnessed the changes taking place at the Tacketts Mill Shopping Center located on Old Bridge Road as the Clearbrook Foundation hosted the First Poetry and Jazz Festival, The Foundation, a non-profit underwriting organization, established the Clearbrook Center of the Arts at Tacketts Mill and funded the Poets Laureate positions in conjunction with local writers group Write by the Rails and the Prince William Council for the Arts.

The Clearbrook Foundation foresees a comfortable and stimulating Main Street environment at Tacketts Mill which will encourage artists and creativity and provide a venue for music, visual arts, photography, literature, dance, theater and culinary arts. The sponsoring groups are planning other events, including readings, book signings, art displays, musical performances and activities for children. The Clearbrook Foundation always welcomes donations.
