Congressman Rob Wittman (VA-1) issued the following statement in support of House passage of the Sportsmen’s Heritage and Recreational Enhancement (SHARE) Act of 2016 as included in the House Amendment to S. 2012, the Energy Policy Modernization Act:
“Our hunters and anglers do more to support conservation in the United States than any other population, and I’m proud to promote those efforts. This legislation makes common-sense reforms to support our sporting heritage and uphold the values that have been passed down through generations of outdoor recreationalists. The SHARE Act language included in the House Amendment to the Senate Energy bill will increase and sustain access for hunting and fishing on federal lands, give state and federal agencies the tools to jointly create and maintain recreational shooting ranges on federal lands, and protect Second Amendment rights. I’m committed to making sure that our public lands remain in the public trust, and this bill takes positive steps in that direction.”
