Rep. Rob Wittman (VA-1) released the following statement in response to the Supreme Court’s announcement that it will temporarily block EPA attempts to impose drastic new regulations on power plants:

“Energy independence is absolutely critical to our national and economic security. These regulations don’t just affect power plants and coal companies, they affect our jobs, our standard of living, and the price we pay at the pump. Energy demand is up, and that’s a good thing. PWL It means that people all over the world are gaining access to electricity for the first time. But to meet those needs, we have to have a comprehensive strategy that implements both traditional energy resources and clean, renewable resources. That’s what the American people want, and it’s what Congress demanded in December when it rejected this rule. By temporarily blocking the Administration’s regulations, the Supreme Court confirmed what Congress suspected: that this unilateral action stands on questionable legal ground.”
