The Woodbridge Flute Choir (WFC) will present a Concerto Scholarship Concert on Sunday, March 15 at 3:00 p.m. The concert will be held at Greenwich Presbyterian Church, 15305 Vint Hill Road, Nokesville. Admission is free.

The Woodbridge Flute Choir is directed by Debbie Gilbert and assisted by Lisa Sheldone.

The concert will feature Emily Wang, the winner of the WFC’s 12th annual High School Concerto Scholarship Competition. A 10th grader at Winston Churchill High School in Potomac, Maryland, Emily studies with Susan Brandt. She will receive a scholarship award of $500 to be used toward her music studies. At the concert, she will perform Night Soliloquy by Kent Kennan with the Flute Choir.

The alto, bass and contrabass flute players will be featured in an original composition for Low Flutes called Tango Molto Basso by Jonathan Cohen. The program also includes:

  • Sierra Morning Freedom by Jonathan Cohen
  • Chivy by Nicole Chamberlain
  • Nimrod by Edward Elgar, arranged by Matt Johnson
  • Overture to Candide by Leonard Bernstein, arranged by Mel Orriss
  • Umoja by Valerie Coleman
