Every year, the world’s largest mermaid convention brings mermaids from around the globe to the nation’s capital, and it is back for 2022. MerMagic Con will return to Manassas from March 4 to 6, 2022, to celebrate all things mermaid.

What and Why

Attracting hundreds of merfolk from around the world, MerMagic Con is proud to present a variety of activities, classes, and seminars from some of the mermaid industry’s biggest names. New and
returning programming includes modeling workshops, photoshoot sessions, certifications from both the
National Association of Underwater Instructors (NAUI) and Professional Association of Diving Instructors
(PADI), and more! In addition to its programming, MerMagic Con also features artisans, small
businesses, and craftsmen in the Vendor Hall; visit for full details.

New Additions and Returning Favorites

Many of this year’s new additions expand learning opportunities for experienced and new mermaids alike. From Submerge’s underwater modeling workshops to the ins and outs of trademarks with The Mermaid Lawyer, Charlotte Towne, there’s something for everyone. Returning for 2022 is the popular PADI freediving certification course, NAUI Mermaid Level 1 certification, DIY silicone accessory-making, photography sessions and workshops with award-winning underwater photographer Brett Stanley, the return of popular swimming competition “The Merlympics,” and even more children’s programming.

Mermaids are for Everyone

No scales? No problem. MerMagic Con offers seminars and programs for those with feet as well as fins.
This year’s expanded “dry” programming means those without tails have even more to explore, from acro yoga to Meadow Perry’s bubble magic. “Mermaiding is for everyone and this is a place for people of all experience levels and backgrounds to come together,” said MerMagic Con co-owner Morgana Alba.

MerMagic Con 2022 is made possible by the Circus Siren Pod, Tides and Tempests Ocean Renaissance, NAUI, Performance Tails, Finfolk Productions, Olive the Alchemist, PADI, Mermaid at Any Age, and FinFun Mermaid Tails. MerMagic Con is equally committed to the health and wellness of venue and convention staff, volunteers, and attendees. Please see the COVID-19 policies page for frequently asked questions related to the convention in the wake of the coronavirus.
