Off and Running Into the 2025-26 School Year
The 2025–26 school year is off to a fantastic start across PWCS! There were high-fives at bus loops, first-week selfies, and even cheer squads pumping up the energy.

Student Vision Profile: A Resource for Academic and Career Planning
The Student Vision Profile is a helpful tool for students and families in grades 6–12 to start thinking about life after high school. It includes information about a student’s strengths, interests, and possible career paths—helping them make the most of their time in PWCS and feel confident about what comes next.
If you haven’t already, take a moment to explore your student’s profile.
The profile includes:
- Details on personal traits and career interests.
- Career plan pathway information.
- Suggested action steps for post-high school paths (college, career, military, work).
Visit the Student Vision Profile webpage for more information and feedback surveys.
Stay Connected to Your Student’s Library Activity
Each day, parents/guardians in PWCS receive an automated email listing any library materials their student checked out, renewed, or returned.
The information is sent to the primary email listed in the Back to School Packet. If no activity occurs, no email is sent.
In addition, the PWCS library management system allows parents/guardians to connect to their student’s school library catalog and designate restrictions on student-selected library materials.
Please visit the Parent Library Controls webpage for more information.
Attendance Awareness Month Reminds us Every Day Counts
PWCS is proud to recognize September as Attendance Awareness Month, a period to recognize how showing up to school every day helps students thrive academically and socially.
Families are encouraged to browse through the attendance family resources and review the updates to attendance guidelines for this school year.
Families are also invited for a virtual Family Engagement Series Session, “Secret Ingredient for Stronger Attendance is Student and Family Support” on Sept. 18. Attendees can understand how schools can foster strong attendance by prioritizing the unique needs of students and families.
Transportation Update for PWCS Families
The Transportation Department has greatly improved student routing and bus stop placement across PWCS. Your patience and understanding during the first two weeks of school are appreciated as the Transportation Department worked diligently to ensure all routes and bus stops were accurate and improve on-time performance.
The EZ Routing app, which provides real-time tracking for families, remains temporarily unavailable as the vendor continues efforts to improve its reliability. The app will be restored as soon as it has completed a full review including testing by select PWCS users. Families will be notified as soon as the vendor resolves the concerns and the app is ready for use, which depending on testing results, may be later this month.
Although the EZ Routing app is unavailable, families can view real-time updates on bus delays throughout the day on the website. PWCS Transportation will also send direct messages to parents and guardians if any bus route is running more than 15 minutes late.
Transportation concerns can be submitted online.
You’re invited to visit the fall PWCS College Fairs!
Unity Reed and Potomac High Schools will host the fall PWCS College Fairs from 6 to 8 p.m. on Oct. 6 and 15. Create your StriveScan profile before the fair to save time. Visit the College and Career Readiness webpage for more information.
